Introduction
Whirlpool Corporation has been recognized by TIME as one of America’s Most Iconic Companies, landing among 250 U.S. businesses honored for their lasting imprint on American culture. For operators who move commercial volumes of laundry every day, the name on those machines carries more than brand equity — it carries more than a century of manufacturing history.
The distinction comes from an independent survey of U.S. residents asked to evaluate companies across four dimensions: recognition, cultural impact, emotional connection and resilience. Whirlpool was the only home appliance company to make the list.
“It is an honor to be named one of the nation’s most iconic companies, especially as we prepare to celebrate America’s 250th birthday,” said Marc Bitzer, chairman and CEO of Whirlpool Corporation. “From the company’s humble start in 1911 to the millions of American homes we serve today, our legacy is built on designing and manufacturing appliances that improve life at home. We’re proud to have started in America and stayed in America, growing for generations alongside the communities that have helped make us who we are.”
That commitment to domestic manufacturing is more than a talking point. Roughly 80% of the products Whirlpool sells in the U.S. are made here, supported by more than 20,000 American employees — including 14,000 manufacturing workers operating across 10 plants nationwide. Over the past decade, the company has invested $23 billion in American manufacturing, labor and logistics.
The Whirlpool brand family — which includes KitchenAid, JennAir, Maytag, Amana, Brastemp, Consul and InSinkErator — reported approximately $16 billion in annual net sales in 2025, with close to 90% generated in the Americas.
