Placing a market value on self-service laundries is not an exact science and many factors need to be considered when determining how much a given laundry is worth. Valuation must take into consideration how much income the business generates, the expenses that affect a particular property’s ability to maintain profitability, the level of competition a facility faces in a given market area and other concerns. Panelist Bios: John Vassiliades John started his career in the coin laundry industry over 40 years ago. In this time, John has successfully ventured into every aspect of the coin laundry industry. He has been a multiple storeowner, as well as having worked as a commercial equipment distributor, manufacturer’s representative, real estate broker and business broker. As founder and CEO of J. Vassiliades & Company, John is a licensed business and real estate broker solely responsible for brokering the over 1,000 coin laundries. He is a former executive director of the Coin Laundry Association and continues to serve as an active CLA member. Also during his tenure at CLA, Vassiliades shared his broad industry knowledge by authoring one of the industry’s most popular how-to books, “Today’s Coin Laundry.” John’s professional expertise within the industries of laundromats and small business brokerage has been displayed in the pages of Crain’s, The Wall Street Journal, Planet Laundry Magazine (previously named The Journal) and in the book “Today’s Laundromat.”
