Laundromats Are Essential: Exclusive Video Premiere

Laundromats Are Essential

This week’s industry update is a little different than our previous weeks’ posts. The Coin Laundry Association is proud to premier today to the public a new video entitled “Laundromats Are Essential.”

Laundromats Are Essential 800X600px

This public service announcement is intended to recognize the efforts laundromat owners and their staff have put forth as essential workers to ensure the safety and well-being of their customers. Some of the steps taken to ensure public health and safety include increasing disinfecting procedures and applying new approaches aimed at social distancing in laundromat facilities.

Watch this week’s video from Brian Wallace, President/CEO of the CLA:

The video shares images of attendants disinfecting washers and dryers, along with hard surfaces such as door handles and folding tables. Also evident are the new social distancing policies being used at laundromats to keep everyone safer while helping customers maintain the highest level of hygiene possible during the coronavirus pandemic.

Laundromat owners, equipment distributors and manufacturers – and everyone involved in the industry – can access this special video at https://vimeo.com/425555919. All are encouraged to post to their websites and share through their social media channels.

Laundry Legislation

Legislation regarding the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) has been overwhelmingly approved by the House (awaiting a vote in the Senate) and includes the following important features:

  1. extended the period of time during which you are allowed to spend the loan money from 8 weeks to 24 weeks
  2. reduce the threshold of percentage regarding the amount used toward payroll from 75% to 60% to make the loan forgivable.

Upcoming Event

Friday, June 5, is the CLA Virtual Happy Hour at 4 p.m. CT. This is a free event for CLA members. Not a member, consider joining the Coin Laundry Association for this and other events, resources, and opportunities to Connect, Learn & Grow.
